Great shots, that 150-600 Fuji lens does its job well 👌

Thank You, and yes, it is remarkable that it is so easy to shoot with what is a 900 mm full frame equivalent.

Great photos, John. This is what emotions came forth. Looking at the moon makes me greatly appreciate the Earth, all the more so, with its natural beauty, its waterways, its forests, its colours, its millions and millions of species. The Earth is animated and full of life. The moon, in contrast, seems barren and bleak. And sad.

Thanks for your comment Perry. It's true. The moon has a stark beauty, the same way polar ice caps might, but there is even less life on the moon than in those remote regions of earth. The contrast is remarkable and perhaps serves as a warning of what earth might become if we don't change our perceptions. Life on earth is not guaranteed. Certainly our fate as humans is not guaranteed. As guardians of that legacy of life, it behooves us to recognize our ability to respond to the pressures we have put on this singular spaceship we call home. Your latest post on Honouring the Earth https://substack.com/@perrygreenbaum1/p-148488715 brings home what a great conceit it is that we as a species, remain largely blind to our own nature and our relationship with our fellow creatures and the environments that sustain us all.

lol! The last one is remarkable because it’s taken with a phone camera. Not what you would expect. The others are, quite literally, “out of this world”.

Yes, I sometimes wish the computational stuff found in smartphones cameras would get incorporated into 'real' cameras. I think the big camera companies are just being stubborn.

Great photos John - I like the sequence of the moon over different days! Great how different craters show up in the shadows at the light’s edge at different phases. Incidentally, I was out on August 21st photographing the moon as well - certainly a captivating target. Superb how well your photographs have captured the details!

Yes, the full moon is always attractive, but it needs more sidelight.

Wow - this is highly worth viewing on a computer to see the photographs nice and big. I love the reveal of textures that corresponds to the receding light and encroaching shadow. It's a satisfying series on our moon - makes me realize I don't think I spend enough time contemplating and looking at it.
