I was building a fire, getting coffee ready and keeping my eye on the horizon all at the same time last night. I knew it was moments from moonrise, but the house was getting cold and our 6 o’clock coffee was calling. Still, I spotted the faintest glow of orange just in time to grab my coat and head outside for a quick snap.
Turning from the moon, I could see the fire was catching. Time to head back in and pour the coffee. Funny this ritual of photographing the full moon. It’s like I have no choice. I must mark the occasion. The photo is often the same, but always different and if I hadn’t gone out to shoot the moon, I wouldn’t have seen the smoke rising. I guess you just have to show up.
Despite the cold yesterday, this winter has been unusually mild. Climate change? Most likely. But this one works in our favour. February has been more like March or April this year. Coffee time!
I step back out after coffee is done. We eat late. A hold over from our days in retail. The moon is amazing as always. A mystery hanging in the sky. It’s so beautiful.
Until next time
John
